Verona, Italy 2013

Our Initial plan was to go to Torino right after Briachon, spend half day there and proceed to Verona around  8pm. In Europe everything close after 8pm except bar & restaurant so this is how our road trip base on. Be on the road at night, sleep and spend the day sight seeing.
  (France-Italy Border)
  (France-Italy Border)
(Excited with both Verona & Venizia)

We arrived in Verona around 6pm which of course still bright and went directly to bed & breakfast place which is 10min drive from the city centre. The owner, Luciana (i remembered...lol) speak very little english but can manage to communicate with us in broken English and French. We love the room, it was clean, spacious and most important they have wifi. We decided to rest before dinner after 3 hours on the road from Briachon and immediately checking internet. Can't wait to update my status and telling everybody that i am in Italy, lol.
 (our room but no breakfast)
(less than 50 euro)

Since the night still early, we decided to go for dinner and check the night view of city center. Lucianna suggested one Pizzaria near to her place because she said it is expensive in the city and the food wasn't taste so good. We took her advice, went to Pizzaria 70 and of course we ate pizza and pasta :)

(I don't like Italian Biscotti as much as i don't like French Baguette)

The next day i woke up, grab my phone, see all the wishes on FB and immediately urge Nico to go sight seeing so i can claim my birthday gift ASAP. I couldn't think anything better than celebrating my birthday in Italy, in the city of Shakespeare and Romeo & Juliet. oh la la!!!

Our first stop was Torrei Dei Lamberti which at Piazza Ebre for a good view of Verona.

(Which one first?)
(Torrei Dei Lamberti aka Clock Tower @ Piazza Ebre)
(Night View)
(View from top-looking down at Piazza Ebre)

(View from top)
(Piazza Ebre)
(street performance, not sure how they do that)

We almost didn't find Juliet house since there's no clear sign and renovation in front of the house make it more confusing. Juliet house situated not far from Piazza Ebre and when we get there the place was full with tourist and school children since its their spring break holiday. Its a long queue for girls and women to go to the famous balcony for picture and i didn't bother to be Juliet. Even Juliet bronze statue was packed with everybody who want to touch her breast for luck, we also didn't bother to do that one. huhuhu

(Right house to choose for Juliet)
(don't even can walk)

It was me who insist to go to Giardino Giusti, an Italian garden which is 20min walk from city center. I definitely love the garden but its the walking that i cannot do,lol. But when we get there, i was so in love with every inch of the garden, especially the sculpture. For me "less is more" garden and park concept is definitely Giardino Giusti. Put sculpture in any garden, i definitely will love it. We spend quite sometimes there, taking picture, having lunch and enjoying the nature before heading back to the city later. Few people come over to this garden and we really enjoying our time there. If you come to Verona you have to visit Giardino Giusti.

After garden we went to Teatro Romano, its a ruin and a museum which wasn't so impressive but the view of city center didn't failed to excited you.

We then headed back to city center since its already noon and i already tired from all the walking but we still have few places to see. We then stop at one church which i forgot which duomo already.

Verona Arena is a roman amphitheater which located next to piazza bra and hosting a lot of concert in Verona. We didn't get a chance to go in because by the time we decided to check this place the door already closed for visitor since they having concert that night. So we only manage to see the facade and do some shopping at piazza bra for local delicacies.

Scaliger bridge aka castelvecchio bridge was our last stop in verona. This bridge famous for its defense character and was built in 13th century by scaliger family who been hated by the villagers to escape. There's a legend saying that the  designer come riding a horse when they awarded him, afraid that the bridge will crumbled down. If he only knew that the bridge stood strong until the German come and destroyed it in 1945.
